Syracuse City Ballet invites you to the Season of Transformations
Our 25th Anniversary Season
A note from Artistic Director Caroline Sheridan:
Syracuse City Ballet is proud to present the 2022/2023 Season of Transformations, marking the 25th anniversary of our enduring tradition in Central New York. This season, we will honor tradition, celebrate innovation, and commemorate Syracuse City Ballet's evolution into a premiere performing arts organization.
This August 20th and 21st, Syracuse City Ballet will return to Syracuse's Inner Harbor Amphitheater for ‘Ballet by the Lake.' This outdoor performance is free to the public in thanks for your support as we returned to the stage in 2021.
Season of Transformations will launch Sept. 30th - Oct. 2nd at the Oncenter Carrier Theater. This double bill will open with the world premiere of ‘(meta)morphe’, a contemporary ballet that explores the transcendental properties of dance. And close with ‘The Firebird’, an iconic folktale of rebirth, beauty, and the supernatural; set to the brilliant score of Igor Stravinsky.
Once again, the tradition of ‘The Nutcracker’ is alive in Syracuse, returning to the Crouse Hinds Theater from December 2nd - December 4th. This joyful, colorful, all-new production will delight fans of all ages.
Three years after its unfortunate cancellation in 2020, Syracuse City Ballet will triumphantly return February 25th - 26th with a revival of ‘Cinderella’ at the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater. A fairy godmother, a noble prince, hilarious stepsisters... what's not to love about this classic, transformative story of a heroine realizing her full potential.
And finally, the award-winning short documentary, ‘Panacea’ follows my journey as a Syracuse dancer and choreographer, finding inspiration in the earliest days of the pandemic. Syracuse City Ballet will present the film with a live ballet performance for a powerful evening at the Oncenter Carrier Theater from April 22nd - 23rd.
I hope that you will join us for Season of Transformations.
