Sarah Klok (she/they) is a dance artist and choreographer originally from Minnesota. She spent eight years as a competitive dancer before transitioning to ballet full time, joining Ballet Co.Laboratory as a trainee at the age of sixteen. They were honored to originate the roles of Max’s Mother in Hannah Mackenzie-Margulies’ The Wild Rumpus and The Cow Jumping Over the Moon in Genevieve Waterbury’s Lunar Lullaby with BCL, as well as choreograph for the Performance Ensemble as their inaugural Choreographic Mentorship Student. Sarah then relocated to New York City and completed one year in the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University BFA Program while simultaneously working as a freelance artist. She joined Pangea Dance Collective as a Company Artist in early 2024 and choreographed for their Pangea: Unearthed program, and additionally choreographed and performed for multiple projects independently in NYC, including the Spring4Spring Dance Festival, Finding Compassion Film Showcase, and the Indeterminacy Festival. After joining Syracuse City Ballet last season, Sarah was granted the opportunity to create a new, full-length work on the Company as part of the Our Voices: Women Choreographers program in the spring. Her piece was then brought to Le Moyne College as part of a lecture/demonstration series and excerpted for Albany Berkshire Ballet’s Project & Performance: Voices performances, where she was also invited to create a new work in collaboration with ABB’s artistic leadership, Choices Mentoring Initiative’s student poets, and BeatNest composers. She additionally works as a judge for East Coast Elite Dance Challenge and is on faculty at Ballet Arts of CNY. Sarah is so excited to be back for her second season with Syracuse City Ballet!
