Sophia Shahani is originally from Los Angeles and grew up training at California Dance Academy under the guidance of Laurie LeBlanc, Randall Graham, and Jen and Robbin Shahani. Throughout her training, she attended summer intensives around the country including American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Colorado Ballet. After graduating high school, she joined Texas Ballet Theater’s Studio Training Company for two years. While at TBT, she had the opportunity to perform in several of Ben Stevenson’s iconic ballets such as The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. Then, she joined the Joffrey Ballet as Trainee where she had the honor of dancing in the corps of Snow and Fair Visitors (Waltz) in the company’s Nutcracker, as well as in Don Quixote and George Balanchine’s Serenade. In the latest years of her training, Sophia was a member of Milwaukee Ballet II for two seasons. While a part of MBII, she danced alongside the Corps de Ballet in Michael Pink’s Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Peter Pan, and Dracula. Sophia joined Syracuse City Ballet as a company member in 2024. Outside of the studio, she is currently achieving a Comprehensive Pilates Certification through BASI Pilates.
