Winter Program: Our Voices
Celebrate the power and poetry of movement in this dynamic showcase of contemporary works by African American choreographers. Our Voices showcases bold perspectives, artistry, and stories that move the audience.
DJ Smart is a multi-hyphenate creative with an array of talents ranging from choreographer, dancer, actor, singer, educator, producer, movement coach and director.
Mr. Smart is a graduate with honors from the University of the Arts where he received his BFA in Ballet Performance. In addition to his degree, he was the recipient of the prestigious “Stella Moore Prize” and the “Outstanding In All Styles” Award. He has received rave reviews for his performances and choreography by over 15 major magazines and an endless number of accolades including: 2006 NAACP ACT-SO National Dance Gold Medalist, 2007 YoungArts National Winner in Jazz Dance, Capezio Athlete, Eleone Dance Theatre Icon Award, 2013 Got Dance LA Spotlight Recipient, 2013 Edge Magazine Person of the Week, and an "Emerging Artist Award” from Opera Noir.
From concert dance, tv and film, broadway to commercials, he has a career spanning 20+ years in the entertainment industry across the USA and in over 30 countries internationally. His credits include: Wicked National Tour, Apple, Samsung, The Jacksons, Twenty-One Pilots, Cher, Tinashe, Becky G, Jessie J, Dancing With the Stars, Latin American Music Awards, America’s Got Talent, Billboard Music Awards, Disney's Best Friends Whenever, Koresh Dance Company, So You Think You Can Dance, So You Think You Can Dance Ukraine and more.

A dynamic force in the world of dance, Dominique is a professional dancer & choreographer known for her intensity, creativity, and commanding presence. With over 30 years of experience performing and choreographing for major film productions, shows, performance companies, Dominique brings bold storytelling to life through movement. As a sought-after Creative Director, she has led high-impact projects across stage and screen. Dominique also owns a premier dance studio, Dominique’s Dance Creations (DDC), where she mentors the next generation of artists with passion and precision. Her choreography is both emotionally raw and technically refined, making her a transformative figure in the industry. Every performance she touches leaves a lasting impression.
DOMINIQUE DAWKINS
Kareem B. Goodwin is a Philadelphia based choreographer, dance educator, and arts leader whose work is rooted in storytelling, musicality, and physical rigor. His choreography blends contemporary and modern techniques with culturally grounded movement practices, creating work that is emotionally resonant and physically demanding. Kareem is drawn to themes of transformation, identity, and collective experience, using movement to explore how individuals evolve within community.
His work has been created for and presented by organizations including Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Eleone Dance Theatre, Atlanta Dance Connection, and MOVE NYC. Kareem is the Resident Choreographer for Dissonance Dance Theatre, where his work continues to develop through sustained collaboration with artists across disciplines. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Dance at Drexel University, a role that deeply informs his choreographic practice.
As a choreographer and mentor, Kareem prioritizes collaboration, clarity, and dancer agency, encouraging performers to bring their full selves into the work. His artistic practice is guided by a commitment to access, legacy, and the belief that dance can function as both reflection and resistance, honoring tradition while pushing toward new possibilities.
KAREEM B. GOODWIN
Lauded as “refreshingly original” by Alastair Macaulay of The New York Times, Miro Magloire is the founder and artistic director of New Chamber Ballet, for which he has created over one hundred ballets in his signature style. Born in Munich, Germany, he started his career as a composer, before moving to New York City to pursue his dance career. Magloire is particularly interested in contemporary music, often in collaboration with important composers and music ensembles, and reimagining ballet as a contemporary art form. Outside of his own company, he has created numerous commissioned works as well as architecturally inspired, site-specific works.
